We have been stamping our handmade lighting with our Ashby stamp for some time now. We have now obtained a Trademark on the ASHBY name which we stamp onto our products.
Why do we stamp you may ask and why go to the trouble of Trademarking?
Well, first and foremost we are extremely proud of our range of lighting and putting our name on the copper or brass is the finishing touch before dispatch. Trademarking our name helps customers to identify our brand and builds trust.
It’s always great to find the maker’s mark on the antique lighting we restore. It helps us to identify the chandelier or table lamp, cross-reference it in a catalogue and pass this information onto the buyer.
Our designs take inspiration from both the Arts and Crafts Lighting Designers and Art Nouveau Lighting Designers. These craftsmen would always stamp their mark onto the finished piece and we do this in exactly the same way with a steel punch and hammer.
Lastly, we love what we do and are immensely proud of our Company. In many ways, our handmade lighting will form part of our legacy. In 100 years, we like to think that our lights will still be treasured, restored and easily identified as the Ashby brand, manufactured by hand in our workshops in South Derbyshire and shipped worldwide.
We now have a wide collection of handmade lighting ranging from wall lights, ceiling lights and chandeliers to table lamps. You can view our collection here – Ashby Hand Made Collection.
